Dimensional Weight

Packages that are large in size but light in weight may be subject to dimensional ("Dim") weight calculations. Dimensional weight accounts for the amount of space a package occupies relative to its actual weight. Billable weight for Priority Overnight Service (PDS) and Early Priority Service (EPS) shipments will be determined by comparing actual weight to dimensional weight. The higher weight will be used for shipment rating.

To determine dimensional weight for your priority shipment, multiply the package length in inches by its width in inches and then by its height in inches. If the total is less than 1,728 inches (one cubic foot), use the actual weight of the package to calculate your rate. If the total is greater than 1,728 inches, divide the number by 194 to determine your dimensional weight, rounding up any fraction of a pound to the next higher whole pound. If the dimensional weight is greater than the actual weight, use the dimensional weight to calculate your shipment rate.

All packages exceeding 8ft. (96 inches) in length require special handling and will be subject to additional fees. If your package exceeds 96 inches in length, please call us to determine service availability and pricing.
